Port MacDonnell's summer festival returns

The much-loved Bay Festival is back, bringing a community-wide celebration to the shores of the Limestone Coast from 21 to 23 February 2025. Anchored by a lively community fair on Saturday, the weekend will be filled with family-friendly events, ticketed experiences, and activities that highlight the region’s unique cultural, natural, and historical heritage.

Fun for all ages at the community fair

The street comes alive with spectacular sights, sounds, and flavors. Experience the larger-than-life Snuff Puppets, the engaging tunes of Junk Yard Beats, Circus Elements, plus the whimsical antics of Jay the Cray. Nestled in Australia's Southern Rock Lobster capital, the festival is the perfect opportunity to indulge in the freshest seafood, mouthwatering barbecues, and regional specialties, all paired with exquisite volcanic wines, beers, and cocktails for a true taste of the Limestone Coast. Families will delight in dedicated activity zones featuring a mechanical surfboard, fishing simulator, bungee run, face painting, and musical performances. There are also guided tours and workshops that delve into the local landscapes, wildlife, and folklore. Best of all, kids under 12 can enter for free!

So much more to explore

Our festival partners—cultural advisors, scientists, and artists—have come together to offer unique and immersive experiences that showcase the beauty and heritage of Port MacDonnell. Embark on a journey through the region’s history with Boandik elder Uncle Ken, or explore the shoreline with seaweed enthusiasts from Holdfast to uncover one of the planet's most diverse collections of algae. For those seeking adventure, scenic helicopter flights over The Bay offer stunning views, while leisurely horse-drawn carriage rides provide a serene way to explore the area.

As night falls on festival day, stay to witness the awe-inspiring sunset over The Bay. Indulge in a tasting of seasonal Indigenous produce prepared by renowned chef Kirby Shearing, enjoy the sounds of street buskers, or savour a delightful meal at one of the local restaurants—a perfect end to an unforgettable day.
