Port MacDonnell's summer festival returns

The much-loved Bay Festival is back, bringing a community-wide celebration to the shores of the Limestone Coast from 21 to 23 February 2025. Anchored by a lively community fair on Saturday, the weekend will be filled with family-friendly events, ticketed experiences, and activities that highlight the region’s unique cultural, natural, and historical heritage.

Fun for all ages at the community fair

The street comes alive with spectacular sights, sounds, and flavours. Experience the larger-than-life Snuff Puppets, the engaging tunes of Junk Yard Beats, Circus Elements, plus the whimsical antics of Jay the Cray. Nestled in Australia's Southern Rock Lobster capital, the festival is the perfect opportunity to indulge in the freshest seafood, mouthwatering barbecues, and regional specialties, all paired with exquisite volcanic wines, beers, and cocktails for a true taste of the Limestone Coast. Families will delight in dedicated activity zones featuring a mechanical surfboard, fishing simulator, bungee run, face painting, and musical performances. There are also guided tours and workshops that delve into the local landscapes, wildlife, and folklore. Best of all, kids under 12 can enter for free!

So much more to explore

Our festival partners—cultural advisors, scientists, artists, and community groups—have come together to create unique and immersive experiences that highlight the beauty and heritage of Port MacDonnell. Boandik elder Uncle Ken shares fascinating insights into the region’s history, while Holdfast’s seaweed experts guide you along the shoreline to uncover one of the world’s most diverse collections of algae. Renowned chef Kirby Shearing demonstrates how to craft dishes using the ocean’s freshest produce, perfectly paired with wines from Mount Gambier's talented winemakers. Strategy enthusiasts can join the Mount Gambier Chess Club’s annual tournament to test their skills against players of all levels. Adventure seekers can take in breathtaking views of The Bay on a scenic helicopter flight, or enjoy the charm of a horse-drawn carriage ride through the area at their own pace.

After the festival winds down, and as the sun dips below the horizon, join us for a summer evening at The Bay. Enjoy a captivating light show accompanied by the acoustic sounds of Stephen Esnouf, Oscar Phipps, Rhyley McGrath, and blues and roots duo Suedan. Make the experience complete with a delicious meal at one of our local restaurants—the perfect way to wrap up a memorable day.
